Wedding is getting closer!

I have a hard time remembering to blog here. Whoops!

So what’s new here? Still making wedding plans. Just about two months away. Got my invites designed and printed by Vistaprint but I’m being lazy and I don’t feel like addressing them. Too much work. *procrastinates* We’ve got a photographer, yay! I’ve got almost all my wedding attire done. Just need some smexy underoos and probably one of those long line bra thinguses (and losing an extra 10lbs or so, and drag out my weights to tone up my arms.)

I’ve decided that I’m going to do my own makeup. I ordered a relatively inexpensive eyeshadow set from Sephora that had some good reviews. I don’t wear makeup a lot, so I wanted something I could use on a day to day basis as blue and green aren’t my usual colors. I also wanted something that’s long lasting and doesn’t all disappear into my creases after an hour. Plus it came with eyeliner and primer. The colors in this set are more what I wanted. But the reviews made me think otherwise. I’ve gotten fairly good with doing my own makeup with practice so I’m pretty confident I can do it. :)

We got Mark’s ring today! Just a simple white gold band. He’s not fond of jewelry and just wanted something simple to wear. I told him that if I can afford a nicer ring later, I’ll buy one for him. But I really couldn’t afford it now. :(

I’m trying to get back into drawing more. After I take a long break from doing anything artistic, I always feel frustrated with my work and I can’t seem to get anywhere. I still strongly desire to do more comic work, but I find it to be an uphill battle. I’ve been messing around with Paint Tool SAI and I really like how the color blending/shading/lineart works in the program as opposed to Photoshop or Painter. It just makes it a bit faster, and less playing around with settings. So I may turn to that. But I find sketching in Photoshop is faster for me for a lot of reasons.

Also getting trained on more stuff at work. Though unfortunately it means losing my weekends. :( I definitely need the money, so I can’t really complain. I just like my lazy weekends! But if things get unbearable there, Mark’s dad is also training me to solder pewter. I get to play with fire! Muahaha. So maybe after the wedding I’ll just go over there for the time being. Better working with family than feeling like a slave to a register and crazy customers. :P

Happy Valentines Day!

Oh poop! I haven’t posted here in quite awhile!

The last few months have been really hectic. I had to do a lot of work to do for some conventions. Mostly, getting a lot of paperwork and processing done. Then after that, attending the conventions and doing the work there. After that, doing the website for another convention (which took a great deal of time). I also had the stomach flu at the end of December, then a flu, and then just about a week ago, I came down with a bad sinus infection. UGH. I never get sick, so I guess my body was making up for being healthy the last few years. After being on some antibiotics, things have calmed down a bit (for now) and I’m trying to play catch up!

Also! We finally got our wedding plans organized! We’re getting married on May 20th. We’ll be getting married by the Mayor, and then having a reception (or more like a party/get-together) afterwards with extended family and our friends. We’re looking at food options now. It’s either going to be pizza and chicken, or some delicious BBQ (where we are going to eat tonight for Valentines day).

I also finally decided on a dress. It’s a really cute tea-length 50′s style swing dress with a sweet-heart top and ruffles! It was only $120! I’m wearing a bright green crinoline skirt underneath and wearing a birdcage veil with a feather fascinator. I’m also going to make a cute flower and organza belt to to around the dress. Lastly, I’m in the process of finding shoes. But finding blue pumps without huge heels and super-pointy toes within my strict budget is proving to be difficult. I always come across super-cute ones in the right color, but they have 4″ heels, and NO WAY!

But anyway, I’m pretty excited! :D

Silly Wedding Industry

For all the ladies out there wanting to some day get married, here’s a warning. These are all things that I’ve learned since July, and I’d like to pass them along.

From the moment you’re engaged, change your facebook relationship status as such, or go to any chain establishments looking for dresses, you are going to be BOMBARDED. Bombarded by what may you ask? Every kind of business wanting your money for your “big day”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for helping out the small businesses, and helping the economy. But… when it comes to Wedding Business, it’s just downright crazy.

Of course, there’s things such as dresses, tuxedos, cakes, invitations and rings… but there’s other things that are downright ridiculous. The Wedding Industry tries to drill several points into your head, feeding off your bridal insecurities. Examples are this:
